It was over one hundred and twenty moons ago and I still remember it like it was yesterday. Truth is every cat remembers the day we open our eyes for the first time. I remember seeing the world as a new and adventurous place. Everything was exciting and life was but a game. Over the first few dozen moons I would daydream of living in the wild hunting down prey. As hair raising as it was I now look back and realize I want nothing more than a dish full of tasty pre captured food and a comfy lap to sit on.

Laps are my favorite place for napping, hanging out, daydreaming, socializing, and just about anything. Occasionally I enjoy a short nap near the window sill or on the floor where the sun warms my fur. But laps lull me and comfort me like no other place. This is why I am glad the turmoil of the past 2 months is over. This place is beginning to feel like home and in due time I am sure Coal and I will find our forever home.

For now, I am enjoying the incredible servitude of these two new keepers who have offered us a couch to crash on. And a bed. And chair, a floor, a desk, a lap and just about thing thing I can fit my paws on. On top of all that I have my side kick Coal. He had quite the scare over the past few months but we have always had each other and promised we’d make it through together. Coal has always been like a little brother to me I so I felt it was my duty to help and protect him, even though he is almost twice my size.

I do enjoy playing from time to time, especially if you have rubberbands. Im in pretty good shape and the doctor said I was very healthy for my age.

This new place is nice and spacious with plenty of places to nap, especially the incredibly fluffy couch. Plus, whenever there is open lap access I always have first dibs.

I am for the most part quiet and have learned I don’t do well with change. I have been through a lot of changes in a short period time and have not felt like myself lately. It is no wonder that beds are my favorite because their location mostly never changes. Their size also becomes a fort of protection for me.

Good head butts are my specialty and I love the way hair smells and feels on both of my new keepers’ heads.

I’m still fairly young and like to be playful. Shoe strings, crumpled pieces of paper, and hair ties can help me lower my guard letting through a glimpse of who I truly am. Hopefully soon I’ll be back to the old me again with many stories to tell.

I do warm up and enjoy the company of another warm body but too many and I get overwhelmed. When it gets to be too much I run to my my safe haven – the bed. It’s size, softness and coziness soothes me. It is my favorite place to be in and where you will find me at almost any given moment.

Aside from where I feel most comfortable, I also like day dreaming about flying, chasing mice, and enjoying a good tuna catch from a fun and adventurous day of hunting. Those are my dreams and I love them.

For the first few months of my life I was a stray but was fortunate enough to still be with my mother. She prepped me for the many things I would face on my own when she was gone. She also told me that maybe I would lucky enough to find the kind of home that provided ready to eat meals and a convenient private bathroom when needed.

My mother had heard of them from other cats but never had the experience. Fast forward to where I am now, and I can understand what my mother meant by being lucky. The nights are warm and when I’m sleepy I curl on soft blanket or on a warm sun drenched spot on the floor. There are many changes to come in my life. I am still young with a lot of learning left to do. At the very least, I hope to be as good a mother as mine was to me.
