The Beauty In Their Eyes
It has been 17 sunrises since my little ones were born. Today Phoebe, my youngest, finally opened her eyes. She was the last of my litter to open them. Titan, of course, was the first after 13, and the rest little by little until Phoebe. I was a little nervous something was wrong, since I saw my first light after only 7 setting suns. I then realized they would be long-haired like their father.
I could see it a little more with the rising of every sun: their little fluffy fur, so cute and adorable. Rhea and Phoebe will be such pretty kitties, and my three cowboys will grow up to be so handsome, just like Axel. I was hurt for a while, but I don’t miss him anymore. My precious collection of paws is more than I could ever ask for.
Sometimes I will leave them, piled together sleeping, and just sit from a distance watching their little stomachs pulsating slowing with their every breath. As scary as life can be, it is certainly amazing to see. I can hardly wait to watch each of them grow into the kitties they are to become. I already see such distinct personalities in each of them.
It warms my heart to see their eyes as they take their wobbly baby steps. Little glossy blue orbs glistening in the light. There is such a beauty in their eyes.
